Zero to One, a Future of Work Company
Company Thesis, September 2026
At Zero to One, we are building from a simple premise. As artificial intelligence transforms the nature of work, a valuable position to be in during that transition is inside the workforce, the organizations, and the workflows that are being transformed.
We are staking our position in football.
Why Football?
Sport, an industry centered around human activity and connection, is one of the few existing domains expected to remain immune and grow even more valuable in the face of widescale disruption. Organizations at the edge are rapidly steering their capital flow in this direction.
Football is the world’s largest sport and also, surprisingly, its fastest-growing with over $60 billion in annual commercial revenues (3X the NFL), with rapid growth in the United States expected to nearly double its already enormous market size over the next decade.
Our Opportunity
Despite its prominence, football’s decision-making runs almost entirely on a fragmented staffing system based on patronage networks. Technical competence is consequential for enterprise value, yet it is scarce and difficult to identify.
Our Business Model
Zero to One is bringing together exceptional practitioners and leveraging them to solve performance problems for clubs, ownership groups and federations. It looks like a consultancy from the outside - from the inside, it is a school & laboratory for the best practitioners.
By becoming the go-to place for technical competence, Zero to One absorbs paying customers, eager staff, domain knowledge and valuable influence into an ever-growing global network. This is the first step.
How We Scale
Once we are inside the work, software opportunities will become visible to us long before they are obvious to others.
Zero to One will see what the work requires: where hours are getting lost, which tools are inadequate, what information matters, and which parts of workflow can be improved, automated or eliminated. These discoveries will become software solutions served to an already existing network of staff & clubs. Some products will stay in football. Others can cross into the wider economy.
Reel, our first workflow product, transforms the flat resume into a 3D CV designed to show what people can do, rather than where they have worked. We encountered this problem in football, but the scope is universal in nature. Our addressable market expands from football with its tens of billions in revenue into the hundreds of billions of dollars spent globally on enterprise software and work technology. This is the second step.
The Future of Work
Artificial Intelligence is beginning to perform work, not merely assist it. As that transition accelerates, organizations will have to reconsider what jobs consist of, how competence is represented and evaluated, which work belongs to humans or machines, what tools artificial workers will require, and how organizations themselves should change.
The products, protocols, and workflows that will define that economy are still being discovered. In the previous age of work, titans like Amazon emerged from solving one niche problem. At Zero to One, we wish to arrive in the new future from a strong position inside work itself, giving us a chance to help shape what comes next.
Capture competence > Understand work > Build its tools > Shape the future itself – Beginning from Zero to One.
